The Solution to the Riddle of “How Many Ducks”

The image that corresponds with the puzzle “How Many Ducks” looks like this:

The image’s fuzzy quality makes it more difficult to detect the correct response and increases the likelihood that someone would choose the incorrect response.

The gimmick is that the image actually has a large number of ducks hidden within.

A few are ahead of the duck, a little one, and a scarcely noticeable one overlaid on top of another duck. You will undoubtedly overlook a duck if you do not examine attentively.

You can identify extra ducks by looking at their feet, although this isn’t a 100% accurate approach as certain ducks’ feet may not reveal the extra duck.

There are sixteen ducks in the picture (but this number is up for discussion).

The location of the ducks is seen in the above photo. Similar to the far left duck in the middle row, the center top image displays two ducks side by side.

The small duck near the big duck’s foot is visible in the top row, far right. There is another little duck by the duck’s foot in the center row of the picture. Two ducks are placed on top of the large duck in the third row on the far left.

The most dubious duck in the middle row is the one on the far right, which is the subject of significant discussion. For this reason, some individuals may argue that the answer is 15 rather than 16. There is a second duck present in the picture; you can just about make out a glob on its wing that is distinct from the other ducks. Some contend that the duck shouldn’t count because you can’t see it at all. Some claim it’s part of the prank and a surefire indication that there’s another duck beneath its wing.

We can all need a little humor during a pandemic, and that is what the riddle offers.
